My son has an annoying habit of constantly asking the question, “How much longer?” How much longer will something last, how much longer until we get somewhere, how much longer until something arrives, etc. (OK, it isn’t annoying, it is cute, endearing, precious, just like him … now do I get my parent-of-the-year trophy back?).

Actually, the problem isn’t just that he asks the question…

  1. How much longer? How familiar that is! All those trips to the ranch. I came to depise that question. Susie and Gina must have taken pity because all of a sudden it was “Are we closer to home or to Grandma’s house?” Somehow this was easier. No more trying to figure out the time we left versus the time we had already traveled. Just a simple one word answer. “Grandma’s ” , and it always satisfied….
